Dear Friends Make Difficult Goodbyes

Posted on

I finally bit a really big bullet. Two years ago I started a Mary Kay consultancy business and it was AWESOME. I had planned to quit my job and focus on that and my theatre work. Unfortunately, as often happens, life threw a curve ball our way and we suddenly became a single-income family – my income. And then lots of other changes happened like a set of dominoes falling in a pattern that only reveals itself in the rear-view mirror. I wound up switching not just jobs but careers. I did start working professionally in the theatre. And my new job got busier and busier until soon there was no room left for Mary Kay AND theatre, so I had to make a choice.

Long story short I have been hanging onto my Mary Kay supplies, unwilling to let go of a path that I turned away from, because I might go back. I finally decided it was time to stop waiting. As much as it hurts, I know I can come back in the future. However, I have no idea if that will ever happen. I don’t know about you, but I am not a medium. I do know that I don’t see it ahead on my current path. Holding onto to a bunch of stuff in hopes I might use it is just not my M.O. right now. So I finally got rid of anything I won’t personally or (theatre) professionally use.

I didn’t take any pictures because I really want to move on. This was very hard to do because I invested so much hope and energy into it and the decision to stop pursuing this path was passive. But one day we all (hopefully) wake up to realize even the most difficult of decisions need to be made. And few doors close permanently.
