50 cents to the first person to chant that whole jump roping rhyme!
I know I said “Radio Silence” a few days ago, but I found myself with some extra time last night and this morning (because load-in went that well) and decided that part of my “me” time was going to be a light workout. I’ve been doing this for long enough now that it makes me feel better over all to get in that hour of exercise so I thought it would help me get through tech and opening week.
Today I busted out the jump rope to replace the running I’ve been doing. I won’t say it was a mistake, but it was definitely an experiment. Since I’ve been doing about 30 minute runs, I decided to jump for 30 minutes. I did 10 minute jump intervals with 1 minute situps after each jump interval. I tried to find the address to link to the situps exercise on Body Rock to no avail. It’s the one where your arms and legs don’t touch the ground and you pull one knee in to your chest for each situp.
This was definitely a light workout. Most of the time I could only keep the rope going for about a minute at a time so there were lots of stops and frustration in there. I’m kind of curious to see if I get better at jumping rope again. I used to love to do it when I was a kid, but I never tried to jump for 30 minutes at time. It’s hard to keep your technique as your time goes on.
So I’m off to start the long adventure that is opening week.
