I RAN today. I’m working with my brother to do a training schedule for long distance running. Something I used to do and want to be able to do again, especially when Obe is old enough to run with me. I’ve committed to 3 days of running per week and I’m going to do it for a month and then we’ll discuss what’s next. Ultimately, my goal is to run for 1 hour. This week my training was to run 2 miles, ideally without stopping and not worrying about time, just making a note of how long it took. I thought I was not even going to be able to run a quarter mile (MAYBE a half mile) without sudden death.
Let me back this up for a second.
The last time I ran (about 2-3 months ago with Matt, I barely made it around the block. I half walked/half ran what was probably only a mile and then laid on the floor of my living room trying not to puke for the next 30 minutes.
Juxtaposition. At my best, I ran a 6:07 mile. Not phenomenal, but you can see why the above incident could be a bit disconcerting.
And along came Body Rock and my determination to do it! After 2 months of Body Rock and dance I just ran. Not only did I run the ENTIRE 2 miles without stopping, I was able to pace decently and I just ran that 2 miles in 19:30. I am amazed. I’m so glad I have a family to support me doing this, including my brother.
